A2: No, Taiwan PASS is an electronic certificate. Please download the Taiwan PASS APP and activate it by entering the "redemption code". After activation, you can see the contained products. Select the product you want to use, and a QR code/redemption code will be displayed.

Q3: What is the validity period of the product?

● Activation Period: Must be activated within 365 days of purchase via online channels.

Once the paper TR Pass is collected on-site (the collection date), the traveler must redeem the ’Local Transportation’ within 30 days.
Example: If a traveler collects the TR Pass paper ticket on 2024/7/1, the latest redemption deadline for ’Local Transportation’ is 2024/7/30.

② If the first redeemed product is ’Local Transportation,’ the traveler must redeem the ’TR Pass’ within 7 days.

Q4: Can Taiwan PASS Hightlight EasyGo Version be refunded after purchase?

1.Ticket Not Yet Exchanged ➡ Refund directly at the original purchase channel
→If the "exchange voucher" has not been registered or exchanged, you can refund it at the original purchase channel without conditions.

A6: Once the ticket has been exchanged and confirmed, the validity period cannot be changed. Since this pass allows unlimited rides within designated routes, after activation (starting at 00:00 on the day of use), refunds are not allowed unless it is due to reasons attributable to our company or force majeure circumstances certified by station/train staff. Additionally, the pass does not qualify for TRA’s policies on duplicate seat numbers, air-conditioning refunds, or delay compensation.

Q7: When using the "TR 3-Day Pass," which types of trains are not covered?

A7:
1.Not applicable to tourist trains, cruise-style trains, group trains, business class on EMU3000 trains, or other specific trains/carriages designated by TRA.
2.For Taroko and Puyuma trains, seat reservation is required to board. For EMU3000 trains, boarding is allowed only in non-business class cars and only with a reserved seat.

Q8: Do I have to use the TR-PASS for 3 Days of Unlimited Travel immediately upon exchange?

A8: When passengers exchange the "TR 3-Day Pass" at a TRA ticket counter using the Taiwan Pass, they must immediately select an "activation date" (one day within 30 days from the purchase date, including the day of purchase). The pass must be used continuously from the selected activation date.
The pass cannot be used on non-consecutive days, and once the activation date is chosen, it cannot be changed.
For example, if a passenger exchanges the TR Pass at one of the designated 66 TRA stations on July 1, they can select any day between July 1 and July 30 as the activation date. The pass must then be used for 3 consecutive days. If not used within the validity period printed on the pass, it will expire.

Q9: Does the "TR-PASS 3-day pass" include seat reservations?

A9: You can reserve a seat in advance at any Taiwan Railways station ticket window across Taiwan or make an online reservation (but you still need to pick up your ticket in person at the station).

1.To reserve a seat, you must present the physical "TR 3-Day Pass" to the ticketing staff at the counter.
2.Once the ticket is sold and confirmed, the validity date cannot be changed.
3.Once the seat reservation is completed, the seat ticket is only valid for the train on the date of issue. For each train and each day, you are only allowed to reserve a seat for the same section once. If a seat has already been reserved for the same time period on the same day, you may not request a seat reservation for the same section again with the same ticket unless you have cancelled the reservation before the "boarding time" on the seat ticket. In such cases, you are only allowed to carry the seat ticket and ask the station to endorse it for boarding the nearest train of the same or equivalent class without occupying a seat. However, this rule does not apply to train types that do not allow travel without a ticket during the sales period (for example, the Puyuma Express or Taroko Express trains).

Q10: How do I reserve a seat on a TRA train?

A10: To reserve a seat, you must present the physical ticket ("TR-PASS 3-Day Pass") to the ticketing staff at the counter.
You may use an unpaid online booking record to reserve a seat at a station counter. However, if the ticket has been paid for online via credit card, purchased with cash or credit card at the station, or issued as a mobile ticket, it cannot be changed to a seat reservation using the Taiwan PASS ticket (and the original ticket purchase amount cannot be refunded).

Q11: Can the TR-PASS 3-day pass be reserved online?

A11:
1.Reservations can be made at any train station ticket window across Taiwan, and you can also use online booking (but you still need to go to the ticket window to pick up your tickets).
2.If using online booking information, please pay special attention! Go to the train station window to reserve your seat with the "unpaid status" from your online reservation, and bring your online booking information to the Taiwan Railways ticket window to reserve your seat.
3.However, booking information for which the credit card payment has been completed online, physical train tickets that have been paid for with cash or a credit card, or mobile tickets that have already been picked up, "cannot" be used to reserve seats with the tickets provided by TR-PASS.

Q12: After exchanging for the TR-PASS 3-Day Pass, can a reserved "seat ticket" be modified or canceled?

A12: Cancellations or ticket exchanges are possible!
To cancel or exchange a ticket (seat reservation) after making a reservation, you should bring the unused seat ticket and the TR-PASS voucher to the train station before the departure time stated on the seat ticket. You can apply for the cancellation or exchange without a handling fee; however, this is limited to once per day for the same section or train number. If you wish to exchange the ticket (seat reservation) a second time on the same day, a fee will be charged according to the regular ticket rules, which is determined by the number of days before the travel

Q13: If the physical TR-PASS 3-Day Pass is lost, can it be reissued?

A13: Loss, theft, or similar reasons do not qualify for reissuance. Please keep your ticket safe. If the ticket holder’s identity does not match, a new ticket must be purchased according to regulations.

Q24: How can I reserve a one-way ticket for the Alishan Forest Railway Main Line (Chiayi – Alishan) that includes admission to the Alishan Forest Recreation Area?

A24: Only one-way tickets for the Alishan Forest Railway main line (Chiayi → Alishan) departing at 10:00 from Chiayi are available for reservation. A maximum of 6 seats are available per day, with limited quantity and priority given to early reservations.
Reservation Instructions: After activating your code, you may reserve trains up to 60 days in advance. Reservations cannot be canceled or changed once made, so please confirm your travel date before booking. The latest time to book each train is by 23:59, three days prior to departure. For example, if you plan to travel on April 14, the latest reservation time is 23:59 on April 11.
Boarding Instructions: On your selected reservation date, please arrive at the Chiayi Railway Station’s Alishan Forest Railway platform. A25: After activating the serial number, go to "Local Transportation" to obtain the ticket and make a reservation. Select your intended ride date, then click "View Ticket" to receive the voucher code. Download the Uber app and redeem the voucher code in the Uber app before taking your ride to successfully apply the discount. Once the ticket is issued, it cannot be canceled or refunded. The voucher can be used across multiple rides but must be fully used within its validity period.

Q30: If I cannot redeem it in person, can I take a screenshot of the QR Code and ask a friend to redeem it for me?

Q31: When binding the redemption code, will the planned travel date entered affect the validity period and redemption?

A31: Please input the planned travel dates before your trip. Once you redeem any product or obtain a QR Code ticket number (e.g., TR-Pass, Kaohsiung MRT + Light Rail 2-Day Pass) in the APP, the validity period of your Taiwan PASS will be automatically updated.
●Example 1: Original planned travel dates: 2024/7/1–2024/7/7. If you obtain the QR Code ticket number for the TR-Pass on 2024/7/10 via the APP, the planned travel dates will be adjusted to 2024/7/10–2024/7/16.

Q32: Can the Taiwan PASS be used during the Lunar New Year period?

A32: The TR-PASS a product included in the Taiwan PASS, will be temporarily unavailable for use during the Lunar New Year Transportation Period or any suspension period announced by the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). It also cannot be used across these periods. For detailed regulations, please refer to the TRA announcements. Other products (such as MRT or Taiwan Tourist Shuttle) are not subject to special restrictions.

Q33: How can I redeem the Alishan Forest Railway Branch Line 1-Day Pass?

A33: Please make a reservation through the app at least one day in advance. On the reserved date, present the QR Code at the Alishan Station Ticket Counter to the station staff for verification and exchange. Once redeemed, the pass allows unlimited rides on the Alishan Forest Railway branch lines (Zhushan, Zhaoping, Shenmu) on the same day. Passes without a date stamp or used after the valid date will be considered invalid.
